3 Gamecock commitments among SC’s Mr. Football finalists for 2024
The five finalists for South Carolina’s Mr. Football were announced on Thursday afternoon
The finalists are Rock Hill receiver Malik Clark; Belton-Honea Path running back Marquise Henderson; Gaffney offensive lineman Shed Sarratt; Richland Northeast quarterback Will Wilson; and Westside quarterback Cutter Woods.
“I think it is the most talented and diverse group since I have been doing Mr. Football,” SC Athletic Coaches Association president Scott Earley said on SportsTalk radio show Thursday.
Earley said there were 20 players nominted for the award.
Woods, Clark and Sarratt are South Carolina Gamecocks commitments. Wilson is committed to N.C. State, while Henderson is committed to Clemson.
Mr. Football is an honor given to the top public school high school football senior football player in the state and based on performance on and off the field. The winner will be announced at halftime of the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl in Myrtle Beach on Dec. 21.
Dillon offensive lineman and current South Carolina Gamecock Josiah Thompson won last year’s award. Thompson was the second offensive lineman to win the award.
