Camden junior voted The State’s high school football Player of the Week

The votes are in, and Camden running back/linebacker Navier Boykin wins the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Football Player of the Week.

Thanks to all who voted. A new poll will be up on Monday afternoon.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun. Congrats to all the nominees.

This week’s nominees

Navier Boykin, RB/LB, Camden: Junior had eight tackles, rushed eight times for 48 yards and had two touchdowns, including the game-winning score in the fourth quarter, in a win over Lancaster.

Michael Boulware, LB, Gray Collegiate: Junior had 17 tackles, forced fumble and returned a fumble for TD against Brookland-Cayce last Tuesday. He also had six tackles (2 for loss) in a win over Aiken on Saturday.

Kenton Caldwell, QB, Newberry: Junior was 16-of-21 passing for 221 yards, 3 TDs and rushed for 97 yards, two TDs in a win over Keenan.

Teysean Charley, RB, Swansea: Senior carried it 33 times for 208 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Fox Creek.

Aiden Fitzgerald, QB, Lugoff-Elgin: Sophomore was 10-of-18 passing for 224 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Spring Valley.

Jaylen Jay, RB, Gilbert: Senior carried it 16 times for 90 yards and had three touchdowns in a win over Airport on Saturday after rushing for 34 yards and a TD against South Aiken last Tuesday.

JR Kinard, RB/DB, Northside Christian: The junior carried it 10 times for 126 yards and a TD, and had 10 tackles (5 for loss), caused a fumble and had a pass break-up in a win over Florence Christian.

Onis Konanbanny, WR/DB, Heathwood Hall: Senior and Tennessee commitment caught three passes for 61 yards and a TD, had six tackles and returned an interception and fumble for touchdowns in a win over Camden Military.

Andrew Turner, QB, Hammond: Senior was 11 of 17 passing for 148 yards, TD and carried it 15 times for 118 yards and four TDs in a win over Ben Lippen.

Tanner Watkins, QB, Batesburg-Leesville: Senior was 8 of 13 passing for 167 yards and a touchdown, and carried it five times for 50 yards and two scores in a win over Pelion.

Brayden Williams, RB, Saluda: Junior carried it 19 times for 154 yards, had two touchdowns and caught a pass for 21 yards in a win over Strom Thurmond.

Justin Wright, QB, Columbia: Senior was 11 of 17 passing for 228 yards with three touchdowns, and carried the ball four times for 28 yards in a win over Eau Claire.
