Dutch Fork’s Elgin Sessions has changed his college choice.

The senior defensive back announced Wednesday afternoon that he has flipped his college commitment to Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

Sessions had been committed to West Virginia since June 9.

“The education is top-notch and ultimately it’s closer to home,” Sessions said of the change. “Georgia Tech had some great wins, and showed up in must win games and situations for example the Miami game.”

Sessions will sign with the Yellow Jackets next week during the early signing period for football and enroll in January. He joins Lancaster offensive lineman Kevin Peay as 2025 players from South Carolina who are committed to Georgia Tech.

Sessions is the 24th commitment for Georgia Tech and the fifth defensive back in the 2025 recruiting class. Coach Brent Key and the Yellow Jackets (7-4, 5-3 ACC) also recently flipped former Clemson commit and top 100 DB Tae Harris.

The 6-foot, 178-pound Sessions is ranked as a three-star prospect by 247Sports and the 26th-best player in the state of South Carolina. He also has been selected for the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas All-Star game.

Sessions is known for his man-to-man cover abilities and had strong games against two of state’s top prospects in Irmo’s Donovan Murph and Ridge View’s Jordon Gidron. He also said he play in the back end of the secondary and help out in the run game.

Sessions has been a key member of the Dutch Fork defense, which is one of the best in the state and going for another state championship this season.

This year, he has 31 tackles (three for loss), two interceptions (returning both for touchdowns) and 10 pass break-ups.

Dutch Fork will play River Bluff on Friday in the third round of the Class 5A Division I playoffs.
