Westwood seventh grader voted The State’s high school Girls Basketball Player of Week
The votes are in, and Westwood seventh grader Amari Alexander won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Girls Basketball Player of the Week.
Thanks to all who voted. A new poll will be up on Monday afternoon.
The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun. Congrats to all the nominees.

Girls Basketball Nominees
Amari Alexander, Westwood: Seventh grader averaged 17 points, four assists and 3.5 steals in the Redhawks’ two wins last week.
Claire Howard, Dutch Fork: Junior center averaged 17 points, 10.6 rebounds in three games for the Silver Foxes.
Lauren Jacobs, Heathwood Hall: Senior Ole Miss signee averaged 26.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and five steals in Highlanders’ three wins last week.
Izzy Saville, Lexington: Senior averaged 18 points, four assists and three steals in Wildcats’ two wins last week.
Chaelyn Tifre, Northside Christian: Junior had 20 points, 20 rebounds, three steals and two assists in the Crusaders’ lone game last week, a win over Ben Lippen.
Elaina Whalen, Ben Lippen: Sophomore averaged 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and five steals in the Falcons’ two games last week.
