Batesburg-Leesville junior voted The State’s high school Boys Basketball Player of Week
The votes are in, and Batesburg-Leesville’s Ta’Maj Gilliam won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Boys Basketball Player of the Week.
Thanks to all who voted this year. This was the last poll for the regular season. A player of the year poll will be done after the state championships are completed.
The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun. Congrats to all the nominees.
Boys Basketball Nominees
Korie Corbett, Ridge View: Junior averaged 20.5 points as Blazers won twice and clinched the Region 5-5A title and No. 1 seed for 5A Division I Lower State playoffs
Ta’Maj Gilliam, Batesburg-Leesville: Junior averaged 20.5 points, three steals and 2.5 rebounds in two wins last week. Gilliam hit the game-winning shot with 4.8 seconds against Saluda to give the Panthers their first region title in 19 years
Kamauri Hunter, Heathwood Hall: Junior averaged 16 points (7-10 on 3-pointers), 4.5 rebounds and four assists in Highlanders two wins last week
Braysen Stockman, Ben Lippen: Junior averaged 32 points and 13 rebounds in Falcons’ two wins last week
Bryson Taylor, Dutch Fork: Senior averaged 17 points, 3.7 assists and was 18-of-20 from the free-throw line as Silver Foxes went 3-0 and clinched the Region 4-5A championship
