Saluda eighth grader voted The State’s high school Girls Spring Sports Athlete of Week
The votes are in, and Saluda’s Miller Martin won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Girls Spring Sports Athlete of the Week.
There will be a weekly poll throughout the rest of the spring sports regular season. Coaches can nominate their athlete by emailing Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com by 1 p.m. Mondays.
Girls Player of Week Nominees
Aspen Boulwaure, Gray Collegiate softball: Sophomore went 11 for 16 with four homers and eight RBIs for the War Eagles in eight games including a tournament last week.
Victoria Coleman, Gray Collegiate soccer: Junior midfielder had a goal and three assists in War Eagles’ two wins over Aiken South Aiken last week.
Mahogany Cromer, River Bluff softball: Freshman second baseman was 6 for 7 with five RBIs, four runs scored and two stolen bases.
Miller Martin, Saluda softball: Eighth grader batted .500 with three RBI. As a pitcher, she picked up a win, a save and struck out nine.
Addie Maynor, Airport softball: Junior went 5 for 8 with three RBIs as the Eagles won all three region games last week.
Kee Thompkins, Irmo softball: In two starts last week, the Yellow Jackets pitcher went 2-0 and allowed one earned run in 14 innings with four strikeouts.
Michaela Wolf, Blythewood softball: Outfielder went 3 for 4 with six RBIs in the Bengals’ two wins last week.
