AC Flora junior voted The State’s high school Boys Spring Sports Athlete of Week
The votes are in, and AC Flora’s Cullen Mass won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Boys Spring Sports Athlete of the Week.
There will be a weekly poll throughout the rest of the spring sports regular season. Coaches can nominate their athlete by emailing Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com by 1 p.m. Mondays.
Boys Player of Week Nominees
Jordy Aguilera, White Knoll soccer: Sophomore had three goals and an assist in a win over Westwood.
Jackson Bottar, Blythewood baseball: Senior went 7 for 9 with seven RBIs in the Bengals’ three wins last week. Bottar also picked up the win, allowing one run over 4.2 innings while striking out five in a win over Westwood.
Hunter Epps, Airport baseball: Senior was 5 for 8 with a triple, two RBIs and a stolen base in three games last week. Epps also pitched a complete-game victory with six strikeouts in a win over Aiken.
Junior Gonzalez, Gray Collegiate soccer: Senior defender was part of two shutout wins last week over Aiken and South Aiken. The War Eagles have allowed just one goal in regular-season play.
Cullen Mass, AC Flora soccer: Junior had four goals and two assists in two wins for the Falcons.
Hunter Parsons, Irmo baseball: Parsons picked up the win last week pitching six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out three.
Sid Shaw, Saluda baseball: Junior catcher was 7 for 13 with five RBIs last week for the Tigers.
