Irmo senior pitcher voted The State’s high school Boys Spring Sports Athlete of Week
The votes are in, and Irmo senior pitcher Hunter Parsons won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Boys Spring Sports Athlete of the Week.
There will be a weekly poll throughout the rest of the spring sports regular season. Coaches can nominate their athlete by emailing Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com by 1 p.m. Mondays.
Boys Player of Week Nominees
Luke Bohnsack, Northside Christian baseball: Junior picked up a pair of wins with 18 strikeouts in 10 innings. At the plate, he was 8-for-12 with a home run, five doubles, five RBIs and seven runs scored.
Walker Godwin, River Bluff baseball: Junior shortstop was 6-for-9 with a HR, two doubles and six RBIs in three Gators victories.
Zechariah Haney, Camden baseball: Senior C/P went 5-for-8 with a double, triple, 5 RBIs and two runs scored in a pair of Bulldogs’ games this week.
Tyler Kneece, Batesburg-Leesville baseball: Junior picked up the win against Strom Thurmond, allowing one earned run, while striking out nine in 6.2 innings.
Tanner Legette, Gray Collegiate soccer: Junior forward had four goals in wins over Midland Valley and North Augusta last week.
Sean Lee, Ben Lippen baseball: Lee was 5-for-8 with a double, triple and pitched a complete-game shutout against Trinity Collegiate. He struck out eight and gave up two hits.
Ethan Moody, Richland Northeast track & field: Senior won the 110 and 400 hurdles at the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic Region 4 meet.
Wyatt Moore, Dutch Fork soccer: Freshman had a pair of goals in 3-2 loss to Lexington.
Kaden Myers, Mid-Carolina baseball: College of Charleston signee pitched a complete-game one-hitter with 14 strikeouts in the 3-0 win over Clinton.
Hunter Parsons, Irmo baseball: Senior pitched six innings, allowed five hits, one earned run and struck out four as the Yellow Jackets defeated Lexington for the first time in more than a decade.
Jackson Ross, Hammond soccer: Sophomore forward scored four goals and had four assists in two matches for the Skyhawks.
Raleigh Rodriguez. Spring Valley soccer: Freshman forward had four goals and an assist in a pair of Vikings’ wins last week.
Jalen Tucker, Chapin soccer: The junior forward had three goals in Eagles’ wins over Lexington and River Bluff.
