River Bluff sophomore voted The State’s high school Girls Spring Sports Athlete of Week

The votes are in, and River Bluff’s Anna Allen won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Girls Spring Sports Athlete of the Week.

There will be a weekly poll throughout the rest of the spring sports regular season. Coaches can nominate their athlete by emailing Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com by 1 p.m. Mondays.

Girls Athlete of Week Nominees

Bayli Aiken, Hammond track & field: Junior won the 100 and 200 at the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic Region 4 meet.

Anna Allen, River Bluff soccer: Sophomore forward had four goals in a pair of wins for the Gators last week.

Ariana Feliciano, Airport softball: Sophomore went 5-for-10 with an RBI and six runs scored in Eagles’ three games last week.

Keira Frye, Batesburg-Leesville track & field: Sophomore won the discus and shot put at the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic Region 3 meet.

Mary Grace Gabriel, Ben Lippen soccer: Sophomore forward had four goals and an assist in Falcons’ two matches last week.

Payton Gonce, Lexington softball: Sophomore catcher was 5-for-5 with a double, home run and 6 RBIs for the Wildcats last week.

Maloree Grimsley, Mid-Carolina softball: Junior first baseman went 6-for-11 with a home run, double and 11 RBIs last week.

Carley Melton, Gilbert softball: Junior catcher was 5-for-7 with a triple and three RBIs. Melton also caught a no-hitter and threw out two runners trying to steal.

Allie Royer, White Knoll softball: Centerfielder was 4-for-6 with six runs scored, three RBIs in two games this week for the Timberwolves.

Jayme Sheaffer, Saluda softball: Senior first baseman hit .400 with two doubles, a home run and seven RBIs.

Eliza Spratlin, Hammond softball: The senior catcher went 3-for-6, with a homer, 5 RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases in doubleheader sweep over Augusta Christian.

Rhames Weisinger, Blythewood softball: Sophomore catcher was 5-for-6 with a double, 6 RBIs and threw out a base stealer for the Bengals last week.
