Lexington pitcher voted The State’s high school Girls Spring Sports Athlete of Week
The votes are in, and Lexington’s Hayley Manz won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Girls Spring Sports Athlete of the Week.
There will be a weekly poll throughout the rest of the spring sports regular season except for next because of spring break. Coaches can nominate their athlete by emailing Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com by 1 p.m. Mondays.
Girls Player of Week Nominees
Aspen Boulware, Gray Collegiate softball: Sophomore was 5-for-7 with two home runs and seven RBIs in two games last week.
Abby Brown, AC Flora softball: Brown went 4-for-7 with three home runs and 4 RBIs in two wins over Camden. All three of the homers came in an 8-1 win over the Bulldogs.
Adriana Dunat, Lexington soccer: Junior had six goals and two assists in the Wildcats’ two wins last week.
London Hudson, Westwood soccer: Sophomore had four goals and two assists in the Redhawks’ 7-0 win over Ridge View.
Karlee Fitcher, Gilbert softball: Sophomore was 6-for-10 with a HR, 6 RBIs and three triples in three wins last week.
Hayley Manz, Lexington softball: Junior pitcher went 2-0 with a pair of complete games. Manz struck out 19 and walked just one in 14 innings.
Lily Sundell, Lexington lacrosse: Junior had five goals, six assists in the Wildcats’ lone game last week, a 16-5 win over River Bluff.
Emma Valdes, AC Flora soccer: Valdes had two goals and three assists in the Falcons’ two wins. She had the game-tying goal in AC Flora’s 3-2 win over Dreher.
