AC Flora senior voted The State’s high school Girls Spring Sports Athlete of Week
The votes are in, and AC Flora’s Emma Valdes won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Girls Spring Sports Athlete of the Week.
There will be a weekly poll throughout the rest of the spring sports regular season except for next because of spring break. Coaches can nominate their athlete by emailing Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com by 1 p.m. Mondays.
Girls Player of Week Nominees
Bayli Aiken, Hammond track & field: Junior won the 100 & 200 in the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic.
Jaden Ekovich, White Knoll softball: Junior third baseman was 5-for-7 with two doubles and three RBIs in two games.
Layla Peppers, Dutch Fork softball: Junior pitcher went 2-0, including a one-hit complete-game shutout in 2-0 win over Irmo. At the plate, she was 6-for-8 with two RBIs.
Gabi Riddle, Mid-Carolina softball: Senior SS/P was 6-for-7 with a home run, three doubles and seven RBIs. As a pitcher, she pitched three scoreless innings and struck out six.
Melody Thurber, Irmo softball: Sophomore was 3-for-6 with a pair of doubles in two games last week.
Pressli Reynolds, AC Flora softball: Reynolds went 2-0 as a pitcher, including a 10-strikeout complete game in a win over Lugoff-Elgin. At the plate, she went 3-for-5 with a home run and 4 RBIs.
Emma Valdes, AC Flora soccer: Senior had five goals and two assists in three Falcons’ wins last week.
Livi Warren, Lexington softball: Junior was 5-for-8 with a home run, double, triple and five RBIs. in Wildcats’ two games last week.
