Heathwood Hall golfer voted The State’s Boys Spring Sports Athlete of Week

The votes are in, and Heathwood Hall’s Connor Wolfe won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Boys Spring Sports Athlete of the Week.

There will be a weekly poll throughout the rest of the spring sports regular season. Coaches can nominate their athlete by emailing Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com by 1 p.m. Mondays.

Boys Player of Week Nominees

Yassil Gomez, White Knoll soccer: Junior had three goals last week for the Timberwolves.

Cullen Maas, AC Flora soccer: Maas scored six goals and had two assists in the Falcons’ three victories last week.

Cade Marturano, Camden baseball: Marturano pitched a five-inning perfect game with eight strikeouts in the 10-0 win over RNE.

Asaiah Mathis, Hammond track and field: Mathis won the high jump, 110-meter hurdles and finished second in the 100 meters at the SCISA Division I Track and Field championships.

David McElveen, Ben Lippen baseball: The senior was 3 for 4 with a home run and six RBIs in a pair of playoff wins.

Boone Miller, Dutch Fork baseball: The North Greenville signee pitched two-hit, complete-game shutout with 11 strikeouts in a 10-0 win over Irmo.

Wyatt Moore, Dutch Fork soccer: Freshman midfielder had four goals in Silver Foxes’ two wins.

Lucas Rogers, Chapin soccer: Rogers had two goals in the 3-1 win over Cardinal Newman.

Ben Smoak, Spring Valley soccer: The sophomore had two shutouts and 10 saves in wins over Dutch Fork and West Florence. Smoak has nine shutouts on the season.

Zach Snead, AC Flora baseball: The outfielder went 4 for 7 with three home runs (including a grand slam) and 11 RBIs.

Jayden Williams, Spring Valley baseball: Williams went 4 for 6 with a home run, three RBIs, six runs scored and three stolen bases in two games last week.

Connor Wolfe, Heathwood Hall golf: The eighth-grader set school records for low nine holes (31, -5), low 18 holes (65, -7) and low 36 holes (138, -6) in finishing second at the SCISA 4A golf championship last week.
