Heathwood Hall boys win 2025 SCISA track and field state title
The Heathwood Hall boys won the 2025 SC Independent Schools Division I Championship Monday at Ben Lippen.
The championship started on Saturday but had to be finished on Monday because of weather.
The Highlanders finished with 129 points. Porter-Gaud was second with 89 points, followed by Wilson Hall (85) and Hammond (66).
Heathwood’s Jack Wilcox won the 800 and 1,600 meters and was second in the 3,200. Edgar Jackson was second in the shot put, Onis Konanbanny was second in long jump and the Highlanders were second in the 4x400 relay.
Hammond’s Zay Mathis won the high jump, 110-meter hurdles and was second in the 100 meters. The Skyhawks’ John Stokes won the shot put and was second in the discus.
Cardinal Newman’s Alan Rodriguez won the 400 meters and Ben Lippen’s Austin Huff won the discus.
On the girls side, Hammond (126), Heathwood Hall (108) and Cardinal Newman finished third through fifth. Wilson Hall won the title with 149 points and Porter-Gaud was second with 130.
Hammond’s Bayli Aiken finished first in the 100 and 200 meters while teammate Mya Walker was second in both of those events in addition to winning the 400. The Skyhawks’ Niya Evans won the 100 hurdles and the 4x100 relay team finished first.
Hammond’s Emme Crosland and Megan Joye were second and third in the 3,200 meter race. Sami Campbell was third in the shot put.
Heathwood’s Sabreya Monsanto won the triple jump and finished second in the long jump. Scarlett Hutchins won the pole vault and the Highlanders were second in the 4x800 relay race.
Cardinal Newman’s Chloe Moss and Janiyah Allen were second and third in the 100-meter hurdles. CN’s 4x100 relay team came in second and Hannah Ezeihuaku was third in the 200 meters.

Cardinal Newman comes up short in tennis finals
Trinity Collegiate defeated Cardinal Newman, 5-3 in the SCISA Class 4A boys tennis championships on Tuesday at Camden Tennis Center.
It was the Cards’ fourth title appearance since 2019. Cardinal Newman match winners were William Appleton, Alex Moon and the doubles team of Appleton and Jack Rollins.
Trinity winners were Ian Royce, Mahaley Swink, Evan Watts, Chandler Hyman and the doubles team of Watts and Hyman.
