Lexington’s Cromer voted The State’s high school Boys Spring Sports Athlete of Week

The votes are in, and Lexington’s Brandon Cromer won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Boys Spring Sports Athlete of the Week.

There will be on more weekly poll next week. Coaches can nominate their athlete by emailing Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com by 1 p.m. Mondays.

Boys Player of Week Nominees

Tanner Battafarano, Cardinal Newman soccer: Junior had five goals in the Cardinals’ playoff wins, including three in the title game victory over Porter-Gaud.

Charlie Bonds, Richard Winn baseball: The Francis Marion signee didn’t allow a hit and struck out 18 in six innings in the Eagles’ playoff win over Jefferson Davis in Game 1 of the state semifinal playoff series. He also had a hit and 2 RBIs in the Game 2 as the Eagles clinched a spot in the SCISA Class A championship game.

Trey Briscoe, Swansea baseball: Briscoe threw a complete-game one-hitter on 78 pitches to held Swansea defeat Waccamaw, 1-0, and advance to district championship.

Daniel Butts, Airport baseball: Sophomore went 4-for-7 with a grand slam, double and 7 RBIs as the Eagles won the Class 4A District B championship.

Andres Campo, Gray Collegiate soccer: Junior midfielder had a goal and two assists in the War Eagles’ two playoff victories over Gilbert and Brookland-Cayce.

Johnny Collins, Blythewood baseball: College of Charleston commitment struck out 13, walked one and allowed five hits in a 5-0 win over Byrnes in the 5A Division I playoffs.

Brandon Cromer, Lexington baseball: South Carolina signee went 4-for-5 with two RBIs in the Wildcats’ lone game, a playoff win over Boiling Springs.

Demarcus Gaither, Gray Collegiate track & field: Gaither won the 100, 200 and was second in the 400 at the Class 4A District 3 qualifier.

Quency Grant, Ridge View track&field: Grant won the 110 and 400 hurdles at the Class 5A Division I Mid-State qualifier.

Zechariah Haney, Camden baseball: Haney went 5-for-11 with three doubles and had the walk-off double to help the Bulldogs defeat York for the Class 4A District C championship. On the mound, he pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run in striking out eight in the win over A.C. Flora.

Harrison James, Chapin golf: James shot a 4-under 67 to win medalist honors in helping the Eagles to the Region 4-5A championship.

Ethan Moody, Richard Northeast track & field: Moody won the 100, 200, 110 and 400 hurdles at the Class 4A District 2 state qualifier.

Jackson Reinhard, Irmo soccer: Senior forward had three goals and an assist in the Yellow Jackets’ two playoff matches.

Jalen Tucker, Chapin soccer: Tucker had a goal and assist as the Eagles advanced to third round of 5A Division II playoffs with a win over Socastee.

Tanner Watkins, Batesburg-Leesville baseball: Watkins was 5-for-7 with 6 RBIs as the Panthers won two playoff games and advanced to the district championship.

Jayden Wilson, Westwood track & field: Wilson won the 100 and 200 in the Class 5A Division II Mid-State qualifier.
