Lexington softball player voted State’s high school Girls Spring Sports Athlete of Week

The votes are in, and Lexington’s Emma Melinauskas won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Girls Spring Sports Athlete of the Week.

There will be on more weekly poll next week. Coaches can nominate their athlete by emailing Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com by 1 p.m. Mondays.

Girls Player of Week Nominees

Keira Frye, Batesburg-Leesville track & field: Frye won the shot put and discus in the Class 2A District 2 state qualifier.

Katherine Goff, Ben Lippen softball: Freshman went 11-for-15 with five doubles and 7 RBIs last week for the Falcons.

Keeley Hughes, Blythewood softball: Hughes went 6-for-10 with two doubles and 2 RBIs in Bengals’ three playoff games.

Cheyenne Love, White Knoll track & field: Love won the 200 and 400 in the Class 5A Division II Mid-State state qualifier.

Emma Melinauskas, Lexington softball: Senior third baseman went 5-for-6 with two home runs in the Wildcats’ two playoff games last week.

Tresta Miller, Gray Collegiate track & field: Miller won the 100, 200 and 400 in the Class 4A District 3 state qualifier.

Brooke Ogorek, River Bluff soccer: Junior midfielder had two goals and three assists in the Gators’ two playoff victories.

Summer Randolph, Pelion softball: Randolph went 5-for-7 with 3 RBIs in the Panthers’ two playoff victories.

Logan Rivers, Hammond soccer: The senior scored three goals against Hilton Head Christian and scored the game’s only goal in the win over Pinewood Prep as the Skyhawks advanced to the SCISA 4A championship.

Kylee Thomas, Spring Valley track & field: Thomas won the shot put and discus 5A Division I Mid-State qualifier.

Emma Valdes, AC Flora soccer: Senior center/midfielder had three goals and two assists in the Falcons’ two playoff wins.

Haydin Williams, Camden softball: Williams went 5-for-9 with 2 RBIs in the Bulldogs’ two playoff victories.
