It’s time to vote for The State’s spring sports girls Athlete of the Week from Midlands-area high schools and games, events played May 12-17.

Voting ends Friday at noon. The winner will be announced on Lou Bezjak’s Twitter/X page.

This is the last weekly player of the week poll for the spring season.

Girls Player of Week Nominees

Addie Bittner, North Central softball: Bittner pitched five shutout innings in a playoff win over Clinton. At the plate, she was 4-for-7 with an RBI in two games.

Keira Frye, Batesburg-Leesville track and field: Frye won the shot put and discus at the Class 2A state track and field championship.

Kat Haigler, Chapin soccer: Senior had three goals as the Eagles won two matches and advanced to the Class 5A Division II state championship.

Miller Martin, Saluda softball: Martin pitched two shutouts as the Tigers won the district championship and first game of the 2A Upper State playoffs. In 14 innings, she allowed eight hits, struck out 14 and walked only one batter.

Aminah Rhone, Blythewood track and field: The senior won the 400 meter hurdles, was third in the 100 meter hurdles in helping the Blazers to the Class 5A Division I championship.

Tamara Steward, Gray Collegiate track and field: Steward won the 100 meter hurdles, long jump and was second in the 400 meters to help the War Eagles to the Class 4A track and field championship.

Makenzie Sease, Gray Collegiate softball: Sease pitched five shutout innings and struck out seven in the district championship win over Darlington. At the plate in two games, she was 5-for-7 with two RBIs.

Rhaygen Platts, Pelion softball: Platts came in relief and pitched 3 ⅓ shutout innings to help the Panthers defeat Mid-Carolina for the district championship. At the plate in two games, Platts was 3-for-5 with a home run and 3 RBIs.

Emma Valdes, AC Flora: Senior had three goals and an assist as the Falcons won both playoff matches and advanced to the Class 4A championship.
