Meet the 2025 Midlands all-area high school girls and boys lacrosse teams

A look at The State’s Midlands all-area girls and boys lacrosse teams and players of the year for the 2025 season.

— Team —

Anna Barger, Lexington: Senior had 40 goals, 19 assists, 29 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Barger was a first-team all-state selection.

Briana Bonds, Spring Valley: Junior scored 71 goals, six assists, 132 ground balls and 85 ground balls. Bonds was a second-team All-Lower State selection.

Piper Haskett, Mid-Carolina: Freshman midfielder had 44 goals, 46 ground balls and 69 draw controls. Haskett was a first-team Lower State selection and second-team all-state.

Brooke Holmes, Chapin: Senior had 69 goals and 10 assists this season for the Eagles. She was a second-team all-state selection and signed with Elon. Holmes set a school record for career goals and finished with 236.

Brayleigh Howe, River Bluff: Senior had 40 goals and three assists. Howe was a second-team Upper State selection and North-South All-Star selection.

Hailey Jasuta, Lexington: Senior defender had four goals, 31 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers for the state champion Wildcats. Jasuta was Lower State Defender of the Year and first-team All-State selection. She signed with Montevallo.

Eli Nels, Blythewood: Junior had 47 goals, 13 assists and 20 ground balls. Nels was a second-team All-Lower State selection.

Izzy Saville, Lexington: Senior midfielder had 68 goals, 32 assists, 52 ground balls and 40 caused turnovers for the state champion Wildcats. Saville was a first-team All-State selection, Lower State Midfielder of the Year and North-South All-Star selection. She signed with Lenoir-Rhyne.

Ava Stone, Attack, Heathwood Hall: Sophomore attack had 35 goals, 29 assists, 22 ground balls and 22 draw controls. Stone was a first-team All-SCISA selection.

Lily Sundell, Lexington: Junior midfielder had 72 goals, 40 assists, 48 ground balls, 30 caused turnovers and 114 draw controls. Sundell was a first-team all-state selection and committed to Gardner-Webb.

Olivia Turner, Dutch Fork: Freshman had 64 goals, seven assists, 78 ground balls and 45 draw controls. Turner was first-team all-district and third team Upper State.

Louise Vipperman, AC Flora: Junior had 80 goals, 36 assists, 34 ground balls and 36 draw controls. Vipperman was a first-team Lower State and second-team all-state selection.

Sienna Woodley, River Bluff: Senior defender had six goals, 28 ground balls and 29 draw controls this season. Woodley was first-team All-Lower State and second-team All-State.

Goalies

Emersin Clamp, Lexington: Senior goalkeeper allowed 86 goals and had a 59.6 save percentage for the state champion Wildcats. Clamp was first-team all-state, Lower State Goalie, Lower State player of the Year and a North-South All-Star selection. Signed with Lander University.

Amelia Owens, AC Flora: Senior had a 44.2 percent save percentage. Owens was District Goalie of Year, second-team All-State and a North-South All-Star selection.

Bonnie Pope, Heathwood Hall: Sophomore had a 56 percent save percentage and had three shutouts. Pope was a first-team All-SCISA selection.

Tyler Cast, River Bluff: Senior had 32 goals, 12, assists and 23 ground balls. Cast was a second-team all-Lower State selection and picked to play in the North-South All-Star game. Cast signed with North Greenville.

Sam Davies, AC Flora: Senior had 30 goals, 33 assists and 39 ground balls. Was a first-team All-Lower State selection, second-team All-State selection and North-South All-Star selection.

James Gucciardo, Chapin: Senior defense/midfielder had three goals, five assists, 58 ground balls and 23 takeaways. Gucciardo was Lower State Defense/Midfielder of the Year and a first-team All-State selection.

Sawyer Headley, Lexington: Junior midfielder had 35 goals, 13 assists, 65 ground balls and 18 takeaways. Headler was first-team Lower State and first-team All-State.

Hunter Hodges, Heathwood Hall: Senior midfielder/face-off specialist had 21 goals, two assists, won 70.3 percent of his face-offs and had 121 ground balls. Hodges was a first-team All-SCISA selection.

Stew Lincoln, AC Flora: Senior attack had 49 goals, 10 assists and 28 ground balls. Was first team All-Lower State, honorable mention all-state and picked for the Great 38 All-Star game in Charlotte.

Malachi Merkovsky, Chapin: Junior attack had 48 goals, 35 assists and 34 ground balls. Was a second team All-Lower State selection.

Drew McCall, Attack, Hammond: Senior attack had 27 goals, 31 assists and 42 ground balls. McCall was a first-team All-SCISA selection.

Palmer Mood, AC Flora: Senior midfielder had 34 goals, 16 assists, 63 ground balls and 25 takeaways. Was a first-team Lower State and first-team All-State selection. Mood signed with the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

Noah Norwood, Chapin: Senior midfielder had 25 goals, nine assists and 39 ground balls. Was a first-team All-Lower State selection, second team All-State and North-South selection.

Thomas Oakes, Blythewood: Senior had 34 goals and 45 assists and was a North-South All-Star selection. Oakes signed to play at Methodist.

Michael Shields, River Bluff: Junior face-off specialist won 76 percent of face-offs, had one goal, four assists and 127 ground balls. Was Lower State Face-off Specialist of Year and first-team All-State selection.

James Stevens, Chapin: Sophomore had two goals, four assists, 118 ground balls and 71 percent face-off win percentage. Stevens was first-team All-Lower State and second team All-State.

Thomas Werny, Lexington: Senior defender had 80 ground balls and 50 takeaways. Werny was a first-team Lower State, first-team All-State and North-South All-Star selection. Signed to play at Lander.

Eddie Wright, Chapin: Junior attack had 56 goals, 20 assists and 30 ground balls. Was first-team Lower State Attack, Lower State Attack of the Year and first-team All-State.

Goalies

Robert Adler, Lexington: Junior had a 65% save percentage. Adler was first-team all-district and third-team All-Lower State.

Alex Hammond, AC Flora: Junior had a 62% save percentage and allowed 6.8 goals per game. Was first-team All-Lower state selection and second-team All-State.

Justice Skeen, River Bluff: Junior had a 52% save percentage, was first team All-District and was third-team All-Lower State selection.
