Vote now for The State’s Midlands high school boys Golfer of the Year

It’s time to vote for The State’s Midlands boys Golfer of the Year.

Voting ends at noon Monday, June 9, and you can vote as many times as you like. The winner will be announced next week along with The State’s all-area boys golf team.

The nominees are listed here. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

Boys Golfer of Year Nominees

Charles Cauthen, AC Flora: Senior had 71.6 scoring average and was medalist in three different tournaments. Cauthen finished sixth at the Class 4A state championship and was picked for the North-South All-Star team (but couldn’t play). He signed with Kentucky.

Teddy Dunn, Gray Collegiate: Senior had a 72 scoring average and was medalist at Class 4A Lower State championship. Dunn finished 10th at the state tournament and signed to play at Mercer.

Harrison James, Chapin: Senior had a 72.2 scoring average and was medalist in four different tournaments including Class 5A Division II Lower State in which he shot a 7-under 65.. He finished ninth at the state championship tournament, is the eighth-ranked player, according to the S.C. Junior Golf Association rankings, and signed to play at Coastal Carolina.

Howie Vroon, River Bluff: Junior had a 72.6 scoring average and was medalist at two tournaments, including the Class 5A Division I Upper State championship. Vroon finished sixth at the Class 5A Division I championship in helping Gators to their first state title.

Connor Wolfe, Heathwood Hall: Eighth-grader had a 35.4 scoring average for nine holes and was medalist at SCISA 1-4A tournament and runner-up at SCISA Class 4A tournament.
