North Central quarterback voted Midlands high school football Player of Week

The second week of the high school football regular season is in the books.

The votes are in, and North Central’s Brayden Price won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Football Player of the Week.

Thanks for all who voted. There will be a new poll on Monday. Coaches can send nominees to Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com.

Player of the Week nominees

Daniel Adkins, WR/TE, Pelion: Senior caught five passes for 100 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Columbia.

Kenton Caldwell, QB, Newberry: Bulldogs’ quarterback was 10-of-14 for 95 yards and carried it seven times for 60 yards and three TDs in a win over Mid-Carolina.

Jordan Davis, LB, AC Flora: Junior had 10 tackles, a sack, forced fumble and an interception in a win over Chapin.

Tylin Drakeford, WR/DB, Camden: Senior caught nine passes for 155 yards and a touchdown. On defense, he had tackles and a pass break-up in a win over Lugoff-Elgin.

Gray Gunter, QB/LB, Gilbert: Senior had 19 tackles (2 for loss) on defense. On offense, he threw for 59 yards, rushed for 32 yards and three touchdowns including the game-winner in the double-overtime win over Wilson.

Julian Hughes, WR/DB, Heathwood Hall: Senior caught two passes for 57 yards, rushed for 22 yards and a TD on offense. Defensively, he had nine tackles, forced a fumble, had a pass break-up and blocked a field goal in a win over Laurence Manning.

Ben Muela Kiser, QB, Hammond: Senior carried it six times for 130 yards and a touchdown and completed an 18-yard pass in the win over Pinewood Prep.

Maleek Miller, ATH, Irmo: Junior had 261 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning catch in the win over Byrnes.

Hayden Myers, RB, River Bluff: Senior carried it 19 times for 130 yards in the win over Brookland-Cayce.

Leonard Pressley, QB/DB, American Leadership: Junior was 4-of-6 passing for 31 yards, carried it 14 times for 58 yards, two touchdowns and caught the game-winning two-point conversion with 50 seconds left in the win over Camden Military. On defense, he had two tackles and a pass break-up.

Brayden Price, QB, North Central: Junior was 8-for-13 passing for 135 yards, a TD and carried it 10 times for 35 yards and three TDs in a win over McBee.

Angelo Rios, RB, Westwood: Junior carried it 14 times for 85 yards, three touchdowns and caught five passes for 57 yards and a TD in the win over Lakewood.

Maxwell Wilson, LB, Lower Richland: Junior had five tackles (1 for loss), two sacks, a forced fumble and six QB pressures in a win over Spring Valley.

Jaden Wuerth, DL, Dutch Fork: Junior had 4.5 tackles, two sacks and a quarterback pressure in the win over Spartanburg.
