Irmo junior receiver voted Midlands high school football Player of Week

The fifth week of the high school football regular season is in the books.

The votes are in, and Irmo’s Ethan Singletary won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Football Player of the Week.

Thanks for all who voted. There will be a new poll on Monday. Coaches can send nominees to Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

Player of the Week Nominees

Dante Caldwell, ATH, Swansea: Senior had three carries for 87 yards, a TD, returned a kickoff for a touchdown and had six tackles, a QB pressure and pass break-up in a win over Barnwell.

Kenton Caldwell, QB, Newberry: The senior was 14-of-21 passing for 205 yards, carried it 17 times for 136 yards and four total touchdowns in a win over Fairfield Central.

Caleb Geronomi, WR/DB, White Knoll: Senior caught two passes for 89 yards, two touchdowns. On defense, he had five tackles, a sack and an interception in a win over Cane Bay.

Terrell Golson, RB/LB, CA Johnson: Junior carried it 11 times for 88 yards, a touchdown and had two tackles, a sack in a win over Allendale Fairfax.

Braydon Johnson, WR, Dutch Fork: Senior had seven catches for 61 yards, a touchdown and also had a TD run in a loss to Oceanside Collegiate.

Tyree Johnson, WR/DB, Brookland-Cayce: Senior caught six passes for 105 yards, a TD, returned an interception for a touchdown and completed a 40-yard pass in the win over South Aiken.

Wyatt Mazza, RB, Mid-Carolina: Junior rushed 18 times for 146 yards, four touchdowns and averaged 41 yards a punt in a win over Pelion.

Ben Muela Kiser, QB, Hammond: Senior was 7-of-11 passing for 145 yards and also carried it 12 times for 152 yards in a win over Hilton Head Christian.

BJ Mack, RB, Dreher: Senior rushed for 230 yards and three touchdowns in a loss to York.

Hayden Myers, RB, River Bluff: Senior carried it 23 times for 219 yards and a TD in a win over Cheraw.

Jackson Noble, WR, Heathwood Hall: Senior caught a 40-yard touchdown pass and returned a punt 50 yards for a touchdown in a win over Cardinal Newman.

Collin Pinkney, ATH, Clear Dot Charter: Junior had 222 all-purpose yards, two touchdowns on offense. On defense, he had eight tackles, three pass break-ups in a win over Calhoun Falls.

Greyson Rimpf, QB, Camden: Junior was 18-of-20 passing for 371 yards and tied a record with seven touchdowns in a win over Richland Northeast.

Angelo Rios, RB, Westwood: The junior carried it 21 times for 85 yards, a TD and also caught four passes for 86 yards and a TD in the win over rival Blythewood.

Sergino Samuels, LB, Lower Richland: Senior had eight tackles (2 for loss), four quarterback pressures, a forced fumble and two sacks in a win over Darlington.

Ethan Singletary, WR, Irmo: Junior caught four passes for 150 yards and a TD in the Yellow Jackets’ win over Myrtle Beach.

Jahcory Sumpter, QB, Eau Claire: Senior was 10-of-14 passing for 197 yards, two touchdowns and also carried it 24 times for 186 yards in a win over Ridge Spring Monetta.

Leray Thomas, QB, Columbia: Junior was 11-of-19 passing for 153 yards, two touchdowns and also carried it 13 times for 66 yards and a TD in a win over Wagener-Salley.

Trevon Williamson, RB Gray Collegiate: Senior carried it 41 times for 244 yards and two touchdowns in the win over No. 9 Midland Valley.
