Heathwood Hall quarterback voted Midlands high school football Player of Week

The sixth week of the high school football regular season is in the books.

The votes are in, and Heathwood Hall QB Patrick Belk won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Football Player of the Week.

Thanks for all who voted. There will be a new poll on Monday. Coaches can send nominees to Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

Player of Week Nominees

Azel Banag, WR/DB, AC Flora: Senior had tackles (2 for loss), three pass break-ups, a forced fumble, fumble recovery and blocked a field goal in a win over York.

Patrick Belk, QB, Heathwood Hall: Senior was 15-of-28 passing for 223 yards, three touchdowns, rushed for 50 yards and threw the game-winning two-point conversion in the win over Porter-Gaud.

Thomas Bishop, DE, Camden: Senior had 12 tackles (3 for loss) in the win over Dreher.

Spencer Bobian, RB, Ridge View: Junior carried it 25 times for 201 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Westwood.

Jai Chuniesing, WR, Pelion: Senior had seven catches for 196 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Eau Claire.

Jamere Crooks, WR/S, Newberry: Senior had four catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Saluda.

Tiyon Fanning, RB, White Knoll: Junior carried it nine times for 151 yards, including a 93-yarder, and caught four passes for 28 yards in a win over Fort Dorchester.

Gray Gunter, LB, Gilbert: Senior had 18 tackles (1 for loss) and had a safety in win over Aiken.

Quayson Peoples, RB/LB/P, North Central: Senior carried it 3 times for 101 yards, two touchdowns, had four tackles, blocked a punt and averaged 40 yards on two punts in the win over Buford.

EJ Richardson, ATH, Lugoff-Elgin: Junior caught 7 passes for 147 yards with a TD, carried it 10 times for 105 yards and a TD and threw a 58-yard TD in a loss to Sumter.

Jackson Ross, LB/TE/K, Hammond: Junior had 14 tackles, caught a 29-yard touchdown and was 1-of-1 on extra points, plus hit a 39-yard field goal in a loss to Northwood.

Trace Selfridge, RB/S, Swansea: Junior caught two touchdown passes, had a rushing TD and also had three tackles on defense in a win over Columbia.

Amadre Wooden, RB, Batesburg Leesville: Senior had his second straight 200-yard game after carrying it 23 times for 209 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Mid-Carolina.

Xavier Wright, QB, Gray Collegiate: In his second varsity start, the freshman was 17-of-23 passing for 376 yards and five touchdowns in a win over North Augusta.
