Hammond junior voted Midlands high school football Player of Week
The seventh week of the high school football regular season is in the books.
The votes are in, and Hammond junior defensive end Hugh Manning won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Football Player of the Week.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.
Player of Week Nominees
Heyward Belser, LB, Heathwood Hall: Sophomore had nine tackles (3 for loss), a sack, returned an interception for a touchdown and had a rushing touchdown in the win over Augusta Christian.
Keaton Bennett, LB, White Knoll: Senior had 12 tackles, three sacks, one pass break-up and one QB pressure in the win over River Bluff.
Blake Betette, WR/DB, AC Flora: Senior caught four passes for 141 yards, a TD, had six tackles and returned a fumble for a touchdown during the win over Lancaster.
Michael Boulware, LB, Gray Collegiate: Senior had 27 total tackles (3 for loss), a sack and caused a fumble in the win over Brookland-Cayce.
Tristan Daniels, RB, Saluda: Daniels carried it eight times for 160 yards and four touchdowns in a win over American Leadership.
Chandler Guthrie, WR, Gilbert: The junior had 12 catches for 162 yards and a TD in Friday’s loss to South Aiken.
Tre Jackson, RB, Pelion: Sophomore carried it 26 times for 171 yards, caught three passes for 41 yards and a TD in the win over Ninety-Six.
Brandon Mack, RB, Dreher: The Junior carried it 36 times for 243 yards and a TD in the double-overtime win over Richland Northeast.
Hugh Manning, DE, Hammond: Junior had 13 tackles (3 for loss), three sacks, six quarterback pressures and two forced fumbles in the win over Laurence Manning.
Raymond McGloghlin, QB, Lower Richland: Making his first start of the year, the sophomore backup QB was 10-of-20 passing for 225 yards and four touchdowns in the loss to Hartsville.
EJ Richardson, WR/RB/DB, Lugoff-Elgin: Junior carried it times for 164 yards, a TD, caught 10 passes for 215 yards and four touchdowns, had six tackles and three pass break-ups in the win over Blythewood.
Julian Senn, LB, Newberry: Senior had 12 tackles ( 3 for loss), a sack and two forced fumbles in the win over Silver Bluff
BJ Suits, QB, Northside Christian: In just one half, the junior carried it nine times for 132 yards, three touchdowns and also threw a TD in the win over the S.C. Spartans.
Markeith Thomas, LB, Ridge View: Senior had 12 tackles and was part of a Ridge View defense that held Spring Valley to 55 total yards.
Quintin Wilson, RB, Dutch Fork: Junior carried it 16 times for 176 yards, three touchdowns and caught a 13-yard pass in the win over Chapin.
Jerel Wine, LB/TE, Swansea: Senior had 11 tackles (3 for loss) and blocked a punt in the win over Keenan.
Amadre Wooden, RB, Batesburg-Leesville: Senior carried it 31 times for 261 yards and three touchdowns in an overtime loss to Strom Thurmond.
