Gilbert senior voted Midlands high school football Player of Week
The eighth week of the high school football regular season is in the books.
The votes are in, and Gilbert running back/safety Wynn Meetze won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Football Player of the Week.

Mario Anderson, DB, Dutch Fork: Senior had nine tackles, an interception and forced a fumble in a win over White Knoll.
Kenton Caldwell, QB, Newberry: Senior threw for 156 yards and rushed for 91 with four total touchdowns in just a half of football in the win over Fox Creek.
Maurice Horry, NG, Lower Richland: Junior had eight tackles (3 for loss), two sacks, eight quarterback pressures in a win over Wilson.
Malachi Jackson, ATH, Clear Dot Charter: Sophomore carried it 14 times for 211 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Military Magnet.
Wynn Meetze, RB/S, Gilbert: Senior carried it 19 times for 143 yards, two touchdowns, had four tackles and an interception in a win over Midland Valley.
Cam Morris, LB, Lexington: Senior had 13 tackles (2 for loss) in a win over Chapin.
Henry Morris, LB, Heathwood Hall: Senior had 15 tackles (2 for loss) in a win over Ben Lippen.
Bennett Plane, WR/DB, Brookland-Cayce: Junior had eight catches for 180 yards, three TDs, had 10 tackles, picked off a pass, blocked two PATs and forced a fumble in a win over Aiken.
Desean Rush, S, Ridge View: Senior had seven tackles (1 for loss), two pass break-ups and an interception in a shutout win over Lugoff-Elgin.
Jaylin Simmons, RB, AC Flora: Junior carried it 13 times for 97 yards, two touchdowns and also caught a TD in a win over Richland Northeast.
CJ Springs, WR/DB, Saluda: Senior caught three passes for 104 yards, a TD, had three tackles and picked off a pass in the win over Pelion.
Amire White, RB, Irmo: Junior carried it 15 times for 191 yards, two touchdowns and caught three passes for 40 yards in a win over River Bluff.
KD Whitt, WR/DB, Batesburg-Leesville: Senior had a 66-yard touchdown run, 28-yard TD reception and returned an interception for 57 yards for a score in a win over Ninety-Six.
Royce Williamson, WR/DB, Gray Collegiate: Junior had five tackles, picked off two passes and caught two TDs in just a half during the blowout win over Airport.
