The ninth week of the high school football regular season is in the books.

The votes are in, and Lugoff-Elgin quarterback Zach Williams won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Football Player of the Week.

Thanks for all who voted. There will be a new poll on Monday. Coaches can send nominees to Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

Player of Week Nominees

Azel Banag, DB, AC Flora: Senior had 10 tackles, forced a fumble and returned an interception for a touchdown in a win over Dreher.

Jayden Boyd, WR/DB, Westwood: Senior had 152 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, including an 81-yard TD on a hook-and-lateral during the final play of regulation, in the win over Lugoff-Elgin.

Terrell Golson, RB, CA Johnson: Junior carried it 24 times for 155 yards, three touchdowns and caught a 35-yard TD pass in a comeback win over Great Falls.

Chandler Guthrie, DB, Gilbert: Junior had eight tackles, two pass break-ups and an interception in a win over Brookland-Cayce.

Quency Grant, DB, Ridge View: Senior picked off two passes, forced a fumble and had a pass break-up in a win over West Florence.

Jaxon Knotts, QB, Dutch Fork: Junior was 17-of-22 passing for 264 yards and a touchdown, and also carried it nine times for 65 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Lexington.

Isaiah Smith, RB/WR, Camden: Junior had 223 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns on just seven touches in the win over York.

JP Sweatt, LB, Gray Collegiate: Senior had 11 tackles (two for loss) and returned an interception for a touchdown in a win over South Aiken.

Lucas Tejada, QB, Clear Dot Charter: Senior was 15-of-20 passing for 300 yards, had 10 carries for 86 yards and four total touchdowns in a win over Augusta Christian.

Charlie Moody, OL, Swansea: Senior graded out 88 percent with six knockdown blocks, four pancake blocks for Tigers, who rushed for 309 yards in loss to Silver Bluff.

Hayden Myers, RB, River Bluff: Senior carried it 22 times for 232 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Chapin.

Tyquarius Shannon, WR, Fairfield Central: Junior caught five passes for 139 passes for four touchdowns in a win over Eau Claire.

Zach Williams, QB, Lugoff-Elgin: Sophomore was 19-of-30 passing for 257 yards, carried it 15 times for 67 yards and four total touchdowns in a loss to Westwood.
