Spring Valley senior voted Midlands high school football Player of Week

The 10th week of the high school football regular season is in the books.

The votes are in, and Spring Valley’s Dylan Redden won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Football Player of the Week.

Thanks for all who voted. There will be a new poll on Monday. Coaches can send nominees to Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

Player of Week Nominees

Bubba Alexander RB/LB, Hammond: Junior carried it 11 times for 70 yards, two touchdowns and had five tackles (2 for loss) in win over Ben Lippen.

Patrick Belk, QB, Heathwood Hall: Senior was 11-of-18 passing for 285 yards and five touchdowns in a win over Camden Military.

Caleb Geronomi, WR/DB, White Knoll: Senior had six tackles, picked off two passes, had a 60-yard punt return for a touchdown and a rushing TD in a win over Lexington.

Sincere Glymph, QB, Newberry: Freshman subbed in for injured starter Kenton Caldwell and was 13-of-15 passing for 132 yards, a TD and also rushed for 98 yards and a score in the win over Keenan.

Dylan Redden, LB/DB, Spring Valley: Senior had six tackles, two sacks, a fumble recovery and returned an interception for a touchdown against Lugoff-Elgin.

EJ Richardson, ATH, Lugoff-Elgin: The junior had 343 all-purpose yards and a touchdown in the win over Spring Valley. He also had two tackles (1 for loss) on defense.

Nick Riley, DL, Swansea: Sophomore had eight tackles (3 for loss), three sacks and five quarterback pressures in a win over Fox Creek.

Jiraiya Staley, RB, Gilbert: Senior rushed for 132 yards on four carries and two touchdowns in a win over Airport.

Jahcory Sumpter, QB, Eau Claire: Senior had game-winning touchdown in the win over Columbia that helped the Shamrocks clinch a playoff spot. Sumpter carried it 14 times for 92 yards, two touchdowns, had 54 yards passing and had three tackles.

Trevon Williamson, RB, Gray Collegiate: The junior rushed for 231 yards, two touchdowns and went over 4,000 career yards in the win over Aiken.

Dontrell Wilson, DL, Camden: Senior had five tackles (2 for loss), two quarterback pressures and two sacks in the win over Lancaster.
