Newberry running back voted Midlands high school football Player of Week

The final week of the high school football regular season is in the books.

The votes are in, and Newberry’s Cash Brown won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Football Player of the Week.

Thanks for all who voted. There will be a new poll on Monday. Coaches can send nominees to Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

Player of Week Nominees

Mario Anderson, DB/LB, Dutch Fork: Senior had nine tackles in a win over Irmo.

Joseph Braveboy, OL, Ridge View: Senior graded out at 92% with five pancake blocks in a win over Blythewood.

Cash Brown, RB, Newberry: Senior carried it twice for 72 yards, a TD and caught two passes for 82 yards and a TD in a win over Swansea.

Jai Chuniesingh, WR, Pelion: Senior caught six passes for 152 yards, three touchdowns and went over 1,000 receiving yards in the win over American Leadership.

Johnathan Jenkins, DE, CA Johnson: Junior had 17 tackles (5 for loss) and three sacks in a win over Lee Central.

Avery King, RB, Brookland-Cayce: Sophomore carried the ball 30 times for 140 yards and a TD in a win over Airport.

Corey Miller, WR, Irmo: Freshman caught three passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns against Dutch Fork.

Ben Morris, RB/DB, Ben Lippen: Senior had five tackles (3 for loss), sack, quarterback pressure and blocked punt in a win over Augusta Christian.

Hayden Myers, RB, River Bluff: Senior carried it 31 times for 300 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Lexington.

Levi Myers, RB, Hammond: Junior carried it six times for 63 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Cardinal Newman.

Amadre Wooden, RB, Batesburg-Leesville: Senior carried the football 35 times for 199 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Saluda.

Ryker Woolstenhulme, RB/LB, Mid-Carolina: Junior carried the ball 28 times for 201 yards, two touchdowns, caught two passes for 17 yards and had seven tackles, fumble recovery in a win over Eau Claire.
