Dreher High School mourns loss of teacher, assistant football coach
Dreher High School is mourning the loss of one of its teachers and coaches.
Christopher Allen died on Wednesday, Dreher principal Dr. Lawrence J. Eberlin, Jr. announced on the school’s Facebook page.
Allen was a career specialist with Jobs for America’s Graduates at the school for the past two years and was an offensive line coach for the Blue Devils for one season.
“With a heavy heart, I share this message. This morning, our teacher and coach Christopher Allen passed away,” Eberlin wrote. “As we respect the family’s wishes, we have no further details to share regarding his passing. Along with our school counselors, we have additional district personnel on campus to support our students and staff in this time of loss. And we will continue to have additional support throughout tomorrow and beyond. Coach Allen is a much beloved member of our Dreher family, and he will be dearly missed.”
Before coaching at Dreher, Allen was an assistant coach at Keenan High School, another Richland One school.
Messages of condolences were posted on social media following the news of Allen’s passing.
Dreher is scheduled to play Daniel in a first-round football playoff game on Friday.
