Midlands squads take home 2025 SC competitive cheerleading state championships
Three Midlands competitive cheerleading squads took home state championships on Saturday.
Lexington and Chapin swept the Class 5A titles with Wildcats winning Class 5A Division I championship and the Eagles adding to its record-setting total by winning the Class 5A Division II championship.
AC Flora won the Class 4A title, and this year’s state event was held at Colonial Life Arena.
For Chapin, it was the program’s fourth championship in the last five seasons and 19th overall. The Eagles finished with 334 points. Catawba Ridge (309) was second followed by St. James (289) and Irmo (265.5).
Lexington’s title was its second straight and fourth in the last six seasons. The Wildcats finished with 329.5 points. River Bluff (315), Dutch Fork (297.5) and Blythewood (289.5) were fourth as Midlands schools swept the top four spots.
AC Flora’s championship was its third in program history and comes after two straight runner-up finishes. The Falcons finished with 274 points, edging out fellow Midlands school Gilbert by three points.
Chesnee won the Class 3A title with 286.5 points. Mid-Carolina was the top local finishing team and came in second with 278.5.
