Ridge View, Dreher standouts voted area high school basketball players of week

The votes are in, and Ridge View’s Amiyah Carr and Dreher’s Nate Anderson won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Basketball Players of the Week.

Thanks for all who voted. There will be a new poll up on Tuesday. Coaches can send nominees to Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com by noon on Tuesdays.

Boys Player of Week nominees

Nate Anderson, Dreher: Senior scored 15 points in each of the Blue Devils’ two games, including 7-of-8 shooting in the win over AC Flora.

Braydyn Francis, Chapin: Senior averaged 28 points, 4 assists, 4 steals, 3 rebounds and shot 43.3 percent from three-point range in the Eagles’ two games last week.

Ta’Maj Gilliam, Batesburg-Leesville: Senior averaged 20 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2 assists in the Panthers’ two games last week.

Samajae Govan, Dutch Fork: Junior averaged 18 points and 3 steals in the Silver Foxes’ wins over White Knoll and Lexington.

Tony Odom, CA Johnson: Senior scored 36 points in Green Hornets’ lone game, a win over Lamar.

Girls Player of Week Nominees

Brea Boyd, Mid-Carolina: Senior averaged 20.2 points in two games last week and went over 1,000 points for her career.

Amiyah Carr, Ridge View: Freshman averaged 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1 block in Blazers’ two games.

Aareonna Caughman, Keenan: Senior had 23 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals in Raiders’ win over Fox Creek.

Teonna Draughn, AC Flora: Senior guard averaged 23 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists in the Falcons’ lone game, a win over Dreher.

Kiley Freeman, Gray Collegiate: Junior averaged 14.5 points, 5 steals, 4.5 assists and 4 rebounds in two wins last week.

Dakota Jenkins, Heathwood Hall: Freshman had 16 points and 14 rebounds in Heathwood’s game against Ben Lippen.

Abby Livingston, Irmo: Junior guard averaged 21 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the Yellow Jackets last week.

Ceddrianna Springs, Saluda: Sophomore averaged 23 points, 7 steals and 4.5 rebounds in two games last week.
