Heathwood, Richard Winn standouts voted area high school basketball players of week
The votes are in, and Heathwood Hall’s Amariea Spriggs and Richard Winn’s Bennett Nicholson won the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Basketball Players of the Week.
Thanks for all who voted this year. This was the final player of week poll. There will be a poll for boys and girls players of the year next month after the state championships are complete.

Boys Player of Week nominees
Sam Mills, Lexington: Senior averaged 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games last week.
Henry Morris, Heathwood Hall: Senior averaged 17.3 points, 8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2 steals in Highlanders three games last week.
Bennett Nicholson, Richard Winn: Nicholson averaged 19 points in a pair of wins against WW King Academy.
Javarius Wyche, CA Johnson: Wyche averaged 16.7 points and 7 assists in CAJ’s three games last week.
Girls Player of Week Nominees
Aneya Britt. Gray Collegiate: Junior averaged 23.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in War Eagles’ two games last week.
Taelor Lee-Sutton, Keenan: Sophomore averaged 26 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.5 steals, 6 assists in Raiders’ two games last week.
Jasmin Robinson, Newberry: Robinson averaged 14.6 points and 13.3 rebounds in Bulldogs’ three games last week.
Lailah Singletary, Irmo: Eighth grader averaged 28 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals in Yellow Jackets’ two games last week.
Amariea Spriggs, Heathwood Hall: Senior had 10 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds and 5 steals in Heathwood’s lone game against Augusta Christian.
Sami Stephenson, Chapin: Stephenson averaged 13 points, 11.3 rebounds in Eagles’ two games last week.
