Who are Midlands’ high school boys basketball Player & Coach of the Year? Vote now
The high school basketball season is over in South Carolina.
It’s time to vote for The State’s Midlands-area Boys Player of the Year and Boys Coach of the Year. Voting ends at noon Monday, March 23, and you can vote as many times you like.
The winner will be announced March 23 along with our all-area boys basketball team and our staff’s pick for player and coach of the year for the 2025-26 season.
Boys Basketball Player of Year
Levi Ball, Gray Collegiate: All-State and Carolinas Classic selection averaged 16.5 points, 7 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2 blocks this season. Ball is signed to play at Kennesaw State.
Justus Bell, Dutch Fork: All-State and Carolinas Classic selection averaged 21 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists this season. Bell is signed to play at USC Aiken.
RJ Davis, Ridge View: Sophomore was all-state selection and averaged 15.2 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 2.1 assists in helping the Blazers to the Class 5A Division I state championship.
Milton McCray, CA Johnson: Junior was Class A Player of Year and averaged 18 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 1.6 blocks in helping CAJ to the Class A state championship.
Jackson Ross, Hammond: Junior was SCISA 1-4A Co-Player of Year and averaged 25 points 8.5 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks per game this season.
Braysen Stockman, Ben Lippen: Senior was SCISA 1-4A Co-Player of Year and averaged 28.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.3 steals per game. Stockman finished his career with 2,968 points.
D’Marcus Thomas, Westwood: Senior was All-State and North-South selection and averaged 23.6 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists per game in helping the Redhawks to the Class 5A Division II state championship. Thomas signed with Southern Wesleyan.
Boys Basketball Coach of Year
Brian Benator, Heathwood Hall: Led Highlanders to first region title since 2017 and first SCISA championship appearance since 2012.
Tyson Bouknight, American Leadership: In just the second season of the program, Bouknight led the Patriots to the Class 2A Upper State championship.
Robert McCray, CA Johnson: Led Green Hornets to their first Class A championship since 2014 as they defeated Bethune Bowman in the title game.
Trent Robinson, Westwood: Led Redhawks to Class 5A Division II championship, the program’s first, and just second team state championship in school history in the win over Greenville.
Joshua Staley, Ridge View: Led the Blazers to third straight state championship and his fourth overall after they defeated Ashley Ridge for Class 5A Division I crown.
