Who are Midlands’ high school girls basketball Player & Coach of the Year? Vote now
The high school basketball season is over in South Carolina.
It’s time to vote for The State’s Midlands-area Girls Player of the Year and Coach of the Year. Voting ends at noon Monday, March 23, and you can vote as many times you like.
The winner will be announced March 23 along with our all-area girls basketball team and our staff’s pick for player and coach of the year for the 2025-26 season.
Girls Basketball Player of Year
LA Alexander, Camden: All-State and Carolinas Classic selection averaged 15.9 points, 10.9 rebounds, 3.2 steals, 2.4 assists and 1.5 blocks this season. Alexander signed with Tennessee State.
Taelor Lee-Sutton, Keenan: Sophomore was Class 3A Player of Year and averaged 22.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.4 steals and 3.3 assists in helping the Raiders to the 3A title game.
Jazz McMillan, Hammond: Junior was SCISA 1-4A Player of the Year and averaged 19 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals per game.
Lailah Singletary, Irmo: Eighth-grader was all-state selection and averaged 25 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals per game this season.
Cedrianna Springs, Saluda: Sophomore was all-state selection and averaged 21.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.8 steals and 1.6 assists per game this season.
Jhnai Sumter, Lower Richland: All-State and Carolinas Classic All-Star selection averaged 16.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.8 assists this season. Sumter signed with Lander University.
Chase Thomas, Blythewood: Class 5A Co-Player of the Year and Carolinas All-Star selection averaged 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists per game and shot 83 percent from the free-throw line. Thomas is signed with South Carolina State.
Girls Basketball Coach of Year
Candace Bush, Dutch Fork: Led Silver Foxes to third-straight region title and trip to third round of Class 5A Division I playoffs.
Molly Goodrich, Lexington: Led Wildcats to the 5A Division I Lower State championship before losing to Wando in the final seconds.
Reggie McClain, Keenan: Led the Raiders to their 10th state championship appearance before losing to Walhalla.
Emily Schaeffer, Blythewood: Led the Bengals to their second straight Class 5A Division I championship.
Cassie Sundell, Ben Lippen: Led the Falcons to their first region championship in school history and trip to SCISA 4A semifinals.
