Two more top SC high school basketball players will transfer out of state
Two more of South Carolina’s high-profile high school basketball prospects are headed out of state to play their next season.
Antonio Caughman of Keenan High in Columbia is headed to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, while Brice Wiserma of TL Hanna in Anderson is headed to play at Christ School in Arden, North Carolina.
Both players are rising juniors.
The two Class of 2028 prospects’ decisions come after Wilson High’s Josh Leonard, the top Class of 2027 recruit, announced he’s leaving the state to play high school basketball at IMG Academy in Florida.
The 6-foot-4 Caughman is considered a four-star prospect by 247Sports and Rivals and is ranked in the top 25 nationally in his class. As sophomore, he was an All-State selection and averaged 15 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.3 steals and 1 block.
South Carolina offered Caughman last month, and he also has offers from UCLA, Indiana, Ole Miss, Maryland, Georgia Tech and Indiana.
Oak Hill has been traditionally one of the top programs in the country and has a roster that includes three-star prospects Janon Singh, Ephriam Moore and Jaleel Smith.
The 6-foot-7 Wiserma averaged a team-high 17.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.2 steals last season. His offers include Furman, Wofford and Coastal Carolina.
Wiserma is the second TL Hanna player to transfer this offseason. Four-star prospect Kaleb Allen is headed to play at Christ School in Greenville.
