Former South Carolina pitcher and Heathwood Hall baseball coach Parker Bangs has joined the coaching staff at Presbyterian College.

Bangs coached at Heathwood the past three seasons. He also was the head coach for the Wilmington Sharks in the Coastal Plain League the last two summers.

“I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to be a part of a program like the one at PC,” Bangs said in a release. “We have a great deal of talented players, all of whom I am very much looking forward to working with as we prepare to build on the success of last year's team.”

The 27-year old played at USC from 2008-10 and was member of the Gamecocks’ 2010 national championship team. At USC, Bangs was 7-5 in 74 2/3 innings pitched with 94 strikeouts and also hit .301 with 10 home runs and 60 RBIs.

Bangs was a 31st round draft pick by the Kansas City Royals in 2010 and made 17 appearances in three minor league seasons.

Steven Victory will take over Bangs’ baseball coaching job at Heathwood Hall and also is the school’s football coach.
