22 Midlands players selected to all-state baseball teams
Gilbert and Camden placed three on the South Carolina Baseball Coaches All-state teams, which were released Thursday.
In all, 22 Midlands players and one coach were selected, up from 17 chosen last year.
The Indians had Mark Kneece, Caleb Watkins and Jacob Rye picked to the Class 3A squad. It was Watkins’ second straight selection. Camden’s Will Abbott and Devin Beckley were picked for 3A team, and Bulldogs’ coach Denny Beckley was named the Class 3A Coach of the Year.
Other Midlands players on the Class 3A team were Airport’s Josh Tucker and Zach Feaster, Chapin’s Evan Estridge and Tyler White and A.C. Flora’s Josh Hernandez.
In Class 4A, River Bluff’s Brandon Tillmon and Dutch Fork’s T.J. Shook earned their second straight all-state selection and were joined by Lexington’s Brice Kirven, White Knoll’s Steven Estep, Blythewood’s Aiden Massey and River Bluff’s Aaron Adams.
Shook was one of four South Carolina commitments or signees picked for the teams. Summerville’s Sawyer Bridges and Sumter’s Jordan Hollady were named to the 4A team, while Latta’s Colby Lee was named the Class A Player of the Year.
In Class 2A, Midlands selections were Mid-Carolina’s Ryan Stoudemire and Corey Stone, Pelion’s Quinton Driggers and Austin Fogle, North Central’s Tyler Bowers, Newberry’s Ryne Huggins and Batesburg-Leesville’s Tristan Wheeler.
It was Bowers’ third straight selection and it was the second for Fogle and Huggins, a Clemson signee.
The South Carolina Baseball Coaches will release their rosters for next month’s all-star game games next week.
