Brookland-Cayce assistant Schroer named boys soccer coach at A.C. Flora

Former Brookland-Cayce assistant David Schroer has been hired as A.C. Flora’s boys soccer coach.

Schroer replaces Matt Barry, who stepped down after six seasons. Schroer’s hire was approved last week.

The Socastee grad was an assistant at Brookland-Cayce for 10 seasons, and was part of the Bearcats’ five regional title teams during his tenure. Schroer is the fourth former B-C assistant who is now a head soccer coach, joining Heathwood Hall’s Andrew Richardson, Cardinal Newman’s Will Eudy and Byrnes’ Paul Hildreband. Schroer also was the Director of Goalkeeping in the Congaree Rapid Football Club.

A.C. Flora went 14-8 this season and lost the Class 3A Upper State final against Chapin. The Falcons won the 2015 Class 3A championship.
