Dutch Fork continues to set torrid pace
Here’s my first “stock report” of the year for the Midlands. This takes a look at who’s stock is up and who’s is going down. We’ll also take a look at the Five Impact Players for this week in Midlands Football.
STOCK REPORT
Dutch Fork Silver Foxes – HOT Stock – A Thursday night victory over defending 4A-DI champion and previously No. 1 ranked Fort Dorchester puts the Foxes in the top spot in the state, and the hottest stock in high school football in South Carolina.
Gilbert Indians – HOT Stock – Coach Chad Leaphart’s team got a win over 5A River Bluff on Saturday, taking them to a 3-0 start and sure to move up in the 3A Top Ten this week.
Spring Valley Vikings – Rising Stock – Sitting at 3-0 after a four over-time win over rival Richland Northeast this weekend. The Vikings are sure to break into the state’s Top 10 polls this week.
Brookland-Cayce Bearcats – Rising Stock – another 3-0 team with a quality win over 5A Lexington on Saturday, the Bearcats were already at No. 5 in the 3A Top Ten and are looking to be one of the contenders for the lower state 3A.
FIVE ON THE RISE
Jordyn Adams, Athlete, Blythewood – Already a major Division I-A prospect, Adams continues to be the driving force for the Bengals, scoring with his arm as a quarterback and his legs running the football. He’s also dangerous at receiver and on the defensive side of the football.
Tyquandre Davis, Running Back, Spring Valley – Davis is running wild in the Vikings’ ground attack, and rushed for 114 yards and four touchdowns in the Vikings’ win over Richland Northeast on Saturday.
Jamir Robinson, Running Back, Airport – I talked about this junior in preseason, and he will be a difference maker for the Eagles. He’s a slasher with excellent speed to the corner. Look for him to continue to roll up numbers after a 127-yard, two- score performance this past week.
Jalen Smith, Quarterback, Ridge View – Has the Blazers at 3-0, and threw for 310 yards and five scores to win a shoot out against Ninety Six on Saturday.
Rasheed Taylor, Running Back, Brookland-Cayce – This guy appears to be the difference maker for the Bearcats in their 3-0 start. He gives them a legitimate run threat out of the backfield, and a guy who can move the chains, opening up the passing game for Reed Charpia.
