High school football: 5 key Midlands players for Friday

These are the players who need to have big games to secure wins for their teams on Friday:

David Isreal, QB, Blythewood

The strong-armed quarterback has improved over the past two seasons and developed into one of the top signal callers in the state. He’ll lead the Bengals against rival Richland Northeast.

Clayton Jones, RB, Dutch Fork

Played an admirable game in losing effort last week against Greenwood. Needs to have a big game to take pressure off of his young quarterback in matchup with traditional power Goose Creek.

Brett Burnett, QB, Airport

Airport’s taking on arch-rival Brookland-Cayce, and the Bearcats are strong on defense. Burnett will need to lead the Eagles to keep the strong ground game of his opponent off the field.

Mason Ray, DL, Swansea

Ray can be very disruptive to opposing backfields and will need that kind of play to make A.C. Flora’s tough offense sputter.

Christian Kinsley, K, Lexington

The game against Westside is evenly matched – except the kicking game. Kinsley needs to put the ball out of the end zone on kickoffs and flip the field in the punting game to give the Wildcats the edge.
