Another week in the books for high school football and another look at “Five On The Rise,” based on the performances from Week 1.
Brett Burnett, QB, Airport – The junior signal caller was 16 of 27 for 150 yards with two touchdowns in a close victory over Brookland-Cayce. This is his first full year as a starter after taking the reins late last season. Already has FCS interest and is sure to draw more.
Caleb Clark, QB, Dutch Fork – Was 19 of 39 for 260 yards and two scores in his first start for the Silver Foxes. The junior transferred this summer to Dutch Fork from Greenbriar, Ga.
Terrance Wilson, RB, Batesburg-Leesville – Rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Panthers over Woodland. The 5-foot-8 running back could be a candidate for Mr. Football.
Maurice Jones, RB, White Knoll – Filling in for an injured starter, Jones rushed for 203 yards and four scores to lead the Timberwolves over Wando. He navigates traffic well and runs with deceptive power.
Nick Graves, DB, Lexington – The Citadel commit collected 10 tackles, broke up two passes and blocked an extra point against Westside. Despite his commitment, look for more attention to come his way from recruiters.
