Baxter’s Blitz: Keys to victory in top Midlands matchups

Keys to victory for some of the best Week Three games:

Airport at Lower Richland

Pressure on the quarterback by the Eagles defense will be a necessity, and making sure that LR wide receiver Larry Collins has double coverage. Key Player: Collins

Dreher at Aiken

Aiken is talented but plays at least six players both ways and runs out of gas late. If the Blue Devils keep this game close heading into the fourth quarter, they can run away with it. Key Player: QB Avery Armstrong, Dreher

Dutch Fork at Boiling Springs

Strong defensive play from the Silver Fox line will be key against the Bulldogs, who have a break-away type of running back. Consistent play on offense will help neutralize the Boiling Springs offensive efforts. Key Player: RB Clayton Jones, Dutch Fork

Irmo at Ridge View

The Jackets’ defense needs help from their offense if they are to win any games this season. Ridge View needs to not have a let down after a big win against Goose Creek last week. Key Player: Athlete Ronnie Jamison, Irmo

Lexington at Wando

Wildcats need to be strong on defense against a balanced attack from Wando; they throw a lot of balls to the RB out of the backfield, as well as two very good WR’s downfield. Defensive front and secondary will be key. Key Player: CB Nick Graves, Lexington

Spring Valley at Richland Northeast

The Vikings are coming off a strong win against Laurens and will need a good effort from their defense to shut down the ground game of the Cavaliers. Great matchups on the lines. Key Player: QB Ryan Lee, Spring Valley
