Spring Valley’s Lee, Flora’s Greene step up
A look at five on the rise for Week 12 of Midlands football:
BRENDAN GREENE, QB, AC FLORA – Solid FCS prospect, who has beaten two of the North-South All-Star quarterbacks in head-to-head matchups. Strong arm with good running ability.
RYAN LEE, QB, SPRING VALLEY – Has led the Vikings to a chance at second place in the region, if they can pull off a win against Blythewood this week. Lee is a solid FCS prospect, and can play quarterback in an option offense and either side of the ball in other skill spots.
DARIEUS MCCASKILL, LB, WESTWOOD – Solid player at the linebacker spot for the Redhawks, leading all tacklers with more than 80. This 5-foot-11, 200-pound junior should draw some FCS attention.
RAQUAN NILES, OL, RICHLAND NORTHEAST – The Cavaliers have rattled off four consecutive wins with a solid ground game, including more than 300 yards this past week. That success is paved up front behind Niles, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound senior, who is probably the most underrated lineman in the Midlands.
DAQUAN WELLS, WR/DB, LEXINGTON – Two-way player is valuable to the Wildcats as an impact player on both sides of the football. Dangerous on offense with the ball in his hands and strong in coverage and run support on defense. Just a junior, but will get some looks from Division I guys.
