Top defensive players in the Midlands for the Class of 2017

Last week, we introduced the top five prospects in the state for the Class of 2017. This week, we take a look at the Midlands top defensive players from the senior class.

1. Shaun Moore, safety, Spring Valley: Underrated big-bodied defensive back that has proven he can come off of the edge as a linebacker. Projects as strong safety or linebacker at next level.

2. Octavious Pringle, defensive tackle, Brookland-Cayce: Strong pass rusher. Played the edge for the Bearcats, but will be a 3-tech tackle at the next level.

3. Micah Byrd-Brown, linebacker, Blythewood: Undersized, but strong against the run and good in coverage. Pad-level player with good tackling skills.

4. Daquan Wells, defensive back, Lexington: Great hips, able to turn and run with receivers. Is dangerous on offense as well.

5. Kerryon Richardson, defensive back, Airport: One of the top athletes in the Midlands area. Strong coverage skills at cornerback.
