As we begin the spring tour, we take a look at the top-10 prospects from the Midlands area and the top-five sleepers from the Midlands. Sleepers are players who might not be generating media attention, but the college coaches know about them and they could turn out to be sought-after prospects.

Midlands Top 10

1. Will Register, tight end, Chapin (6-foot-4, 240 pounds) – A big, rangy athlete with solid skills as a receiver. Has potential to move inside to tackle, but his skills might keep him at the TE spot.

2. Damani Staley, linebacker, Ridge View (6-2, 218) – Plays the edge for the Blazers, but this Gamecock commitment is projected as a linebacker at the next level.

3. Tyreek Johnson, defensive end, Lakewood (6-4, 245) – A solid strongside end prospect, Johnson is strong at stopping the run, but does have the ability to rush the passer and is athletic enough to play weakside.

4. Austin Connor, wide receiver, Dutch Fork (6-0, 175) – Connor has the lethal speed that has attracted offers from many schools in the region. He’s dangerous in the slot and getting into space, but can stretch the field from the outside.

5. Shaun Moore Jr, safety, Spring Valley (6-1, 195) – Moore is a big hitter with the ability to dissect the offense and get to the ball. Has multiple D-I offers.

6. Octavious Pringle, defensive tackle, Brookland-Cayce (6-2, 280) – Pringle is athletic enough to play on the edge in high school and doubles as a fullback on offense, but he’s an inside defensive lineman at the next level.

7. Pressley Harvin, punter, Sumter (6-0, 235) – A punter can be a dangerous weapon, and Harvin averages more than 40 yards per kick and is committed to Georgia Tech.

8. Kerryon Richardson, athlete, Airport (5-10, 160) – A dangerous player on offense, Richardson is projected as a cornerback at the next level and has multiple offers already.

9. Latheron Rogers-Anderson, athlete, Ridge View (6-0, 190) – Listed as an athlete, Lathon will be playing on the defensive side in the secondary. He has multiple offers.

10. Patrick McClure, quarterback, Ben Lippen (6-2, 190) – McClure has better than average mobility and a strong arm to go with his cerebral abilities. Has several FCS offers.

MIDLANDS TOP SLEEPERS

1. Brett Burnett, quarterback, Airport (6-2, 190) – Burnett has one of the strongest arms in the state, but an ACL injury kept him out of his junior season – which took him out of media spotlight. A couple of FCS schools have verbally offered.

2. Terrence Brunson, quarterback, Calhoun County (6-3, 235) – Brunson is on track to break the state record for total touchdowns. He’s got looks from smaller schools as a quarterback, and the Division I-A guys like him as a potential tight end.

3. Malik Sumter, defensive tackle, Dutch Fork (6-0, 270) – Strong rusher and run stopper in the middle of the line, Sumter missed some of his junior year because of injury, but has attracted a couple of FCS offers this offseason.

4. Cameron Muller, offensive line, Ridge View (6-3, 310) – Big-bodied trenchman with good feet, Muller has one I-A offer and should see more after satellite camp this summer.

5. Corey Stone, quarterback, Mid-Carolina (6-2, 175) – Stone has one FCS offer, but baseball might be calling him to the diamond at the next level.
