Quarterbacks will draw plenty of attention this fall

Here’s another set to watch in ‘Five on the Rise’ and another impact coach from the Midlands (players are in alphabetical order).

Tyun Billups, athlete, Irmo: Billups took snaps at quarterback and wide receiver in the spring and will be an impact player at either position for the Yellow Jackets, but gives them their best look at quarterback.

Brett Burnett, quarterback, Airport: Burnett is the top quarterback prospect returning in the Midlands. After suffering a season-ending ACL injury in 2015, he is back to 100 percent and more mobile than ever.

Ward Hacklin, wide receiver, Dutch Fork: Everyone knows about Austin Connor and Bobby Irby, but this Clemson baseball commitment is one of the Midlands’ best.

Aloysius Jackson Jr, quarterback, Richland Northeast: One of the top athletes in the Midlands, Jackson’s an impact player on both sides of the football, but will have to take snaps for the Cavs.

Teion Thomas, quarterback, CA Johnson: A transfer from Eau Claire, Thomas gives the Hornets a solid athlete at the quarterback position with experience.

Dean Howell, Coach, White Knoll: Coach Howell doesn’t always get the recognition he deserves, but he has managed to get the Timberwolves to the playoffs each year as their head man after doing the same at A.C. Flora. He’s done a phenomenal job of putting togethergreat staffs at both schools, and is a positive influence on kids off the field as well.
