This week, we continue to look for more impact players this season in the Midlands and point out one impact coach.

FIVE ON THE RISE

Latheron Rogers-Anderson, free safety, Ridge View: A transfer from Lakewood High, he makes the secondary a significant part of the Blazers’ gameplan. Big-time prospect.

Elliott Campbell, offensive line/tight end, Lugoff-Elgin: This 6-foot-6, 250-pound athlete has become an in-demand prospect, and will be a force on a strong and improved offensive front for the Demons.

Catriez Cook, strong safety, Gilbert: At 6-1, 200, Cook has the ability to play at linebacker, but his athleticism and field vision make him strong at the safety position. Strong in run support.

Dayrun Keith, athlete, Pelion: This rising junior has been used in multiple positions on both sides of the ball. He’s dangerous with the ball in space on offense, and is also a solid defender.

Eric Ricker, strong safety, Lexington: This rising senior will be the leader on the defensive side, but also is an impact player in offensive situations and a big-time threat on special teams.

IMPACT COACH

Josh Stepp, head coach and AD, Lexington: It’s difficult to argue with the success Stepp had at Dreher, turning the Blue Devils into winners, and taking the Wildcats to the Class 4A state championship game in 2015. He exemplifies the same leadership as a coach that he did as a player, and has managed to keep continued success against his district foes and the rest of the state, despite the school taking a big enrollment hit when River Bluff opened and attendance lines were redrawn.
