Westwood girls basketball to play in Nike Tournament of Champions

The Westwood girls basketball team will get a chance to play against some of the nation’s top best this season.

The Redhawks accepted an invited to play in the 21st Annual Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz., on Dec. 19-22. The tournament has produced 15 of the last 17 consensus national champions and 168 state champions since 1997.

Westwood went 19-6 last year and lost in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to state champion North Augusta. The Redhawks return most of their roster from last year including college prospects Unique Drake, Nyah Leveretter, Mya Belton and Maliyah Lockett.
