Two Midlands hoops players make 247Sports, ESPN recruiting rankings list

Two Midlands basketball players made national recruiting rankings for Class of 2019 recruits.

Lower Richland’s Christian Brown and Gray Collegiate’s Juwan Gary were on lists by ESPN and 247Sports, which released their rankings this week. 247Sports had Brown as No. 14 and he was No. 18 on ESPN’s Top 60 list. Gary was 29^th by ESPN and 68^th by 247Sports.

Brown, a five-star recruit, averaged 16.3 points and 7.1 rebounds a game and was an all-state selection at A.C. Flora this year before transferring to Lower Richland in July.

Gary, 6-foot-5, averaged 18.4 points and 6.5 rebounds a game for the War Eagles. . He was invited to the Team USA 16U tryouts earlier this summer.

York Prep’s D.J. Burns and Porter-Gaud’s Josiah James made the lists. James was 55^th by ESPN and 65^th on 247Sports. Burns was 52^nd by ESPN. Both have South Carolina offers.
