Four Midlands players ranked in Rivals Top 150 basketball rankings

Three Midlands basketball players and one former one are ranked in the latest Rivals Top 150 rankings for the Class of 2019.

Lower Richland’s Christian Brown is ranked No. 23, while Gray Collegiate’s Juwan Gary is 56th and Ridge View’s Malcolm Wilson is 145th. All three players are being recruited and have offers by South Carolina among other schools.

Former Dutch Fork guard Deuce Dean is 122nd. Dean is playing at York Prep this season. Dean’s teammate, D.J. Burns is No. 80 on the list.

Brown, who is averaging 21.2 points a game, visited Georgia over the weekend. He has missed the last two games because of injury.

Gary is averaging 23.1 points and 9.1 rebounds a game for the War Eagles, the top ranked team in the Midlands. He won the slam dunk contest at the Chick-fil-A Classic.

Wilson, 6-foot-10, leads the Midlands with six block shots a game and had 12 in a game earlier this year.

Dean has scored 17 points in each of the last two games for York Prep, which plays Lakewood on Monday at MLK Bash at Eau Claire High School.
