Basketball playoff scores: River Bluff, Ridge View, Lexington earn opening-round wins
The South Carolina High School League playoffs kicked on Wednesday night around the state.
Several Midlands teams were in action and here were some of the highlights from the first night:
▪ Defending Class 5A boys champion River Bluff, a No. 3 seed from Region 5-5A, went on the road to defeat Conway, 42-28.
▪ The Eau Claire girls got a 64-51 win over Blacksburg, which was ranked No. 1 in Class 2A at one point this season.
▪ Syracuse football signee and South Pointe senior Quan Peterson hit a shot at the buzzer to defeat Dreher, 46-45. South Pointe is the defending 4A champion
▪ Five-star prospect GG Jackson scored 18 points and went over 1,000 points for his career in Ridge View’s 63-38 win over Boiling Springs.
▪ Cam Scott, the state’s top sophomore prospect, had 25 points and Jose Figueroa had 19 in Lexington’s win over Carolina Forest.
▪ Westwood’s Jessica Woods scored 19 points and went over 1,000 points for her career in the Redhawks’ 51-33 win over York.
