Vote for The State’s boys HS basketball player of the week
It’s time to vote for The State’s boys basketball Player of the Week from Midlands-area high schools and games played Jan. 2-7. Voting ends Friday at noon. The winner will be announced on Lou Bezjak’s Twitter page.
Coaches can send nominations for future voting to Lou Bezjak at lbezjak@thestate.com by 10 a.m. Mondays for rest of the season.

Madden Collins, Jr. Irmo: Junior averaged 15 points and 4 assists in wins over Airport and Richland Northeast.
JD Gardner, Sr., Heathwood Hall: Senior averaged 20 points and 6 rebounds in three games last week.
Lamont Jackson, Jr., Blythewood: Junior averaged 18 points, 4 steals, 3 rebounds and shot 56.5% in wins over Westwood and White Knoll.
Josiah Peeples, Jr., Cardinal Newman: Junior averaged 15.6 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2.3 steals in wins over Laurence Manning, Heathwood Hall and Shannon Forest.
Cedric Schofield, So., Eau Claire: Sophomore had 19 points and 8 rebounds in win over CA Johnson.
Dane Sundell, Jr., Northside Christian: Junior averaged 25 points and three rebounds in two games last week. Sundell had a career-high 37 points against Gilbert.
Bryson Taylor, So., Dutch Fork: Sophomore averaged 19 points a game and shot 50% in wins over Spring Valley and Brookland-Cayce.
